WHAT IS YIN?
Think Yin is just restorative yoga? Think again.
While many yoga practices focus on movement, strength, and muscular engagement, Yin invites us to slow down, soften, and stay. Postures are typically held for several minutes, allowing us to work with the body in an entirely different way.
Rather than actively engaging the muscles, Yin uses longer, passive holds to gently stress the body’s connective tissues—including fascia, ligaments, and joints—while supporting mobility and range of motion.
But Yin is about more than the physical body.
Rooted in principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the practice also works with the body’s energetic pathways, or meridians, and the flow of Qi. Through stillness, breath, and sustained attention, Yin creates an opportunity to turn inward and cultivate greater awareness.
In a world that constantly asks us to do more, move faster, and push harder, Yin offers something radically different: the practice of slowing down and learning to listen.
And learning to teach it well is an art of its own.
WHY THIS TRAINING
Yin Yoga may look simple from the outside, but teaching it well requires far more than knowing a collection of poses.
In this 20-hour training, you’ll go beyond the surface of the practice to explore the anatomy, energetics, philosophy, sequencing, and subtle art of holding space that make Yin Yoga so powerful.
You’ll learn how to:
-
Practice and teach essential Yin postures safely and effectively
-
Understand functional anatomy and the role of connective tissue in Yin
-
Explore Traditional Chinese Medicine, meridians, and the energetic body
-
Use props and variations to support different bodies
-
Refine your cueing and teaching language
-
Sequence thoughtful, well-rounded Yin classes
-
Hold space for stillness and introspection
-
Develop the confidence to bring Yin into your classes, retreats, offerings, or personal practice
Whether you’re a yoga teacher looking to confidently add Yin to your offerings or a student wanting to deepen your own practice, you’ll leave with a richer understanding of Yin and the tools to make the practice your own.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS ARE SAYING
“I came into this training thinking Yin and restorative were basically the same thing. Coming from a strong Vinyasa background, I had no idea how much I was going to love this practice.
Yin challenged me in completely different ways and reminded me that sometimes the most powerful practice is learning to slow down. Now I don’t just appreciate Yin—I crave it. I’m so excited to weave it into my classes, retreats, and offerings.
Ellen’s depth of knowledge, genuine passion for Yin, and calm, welcoming presence made learning feel effortless. I walked away inspired—not just as a teacher, but as a student of the practice.”
— Whitney Fenton, 2026
“Ellen’s Yin teaching modules were exceptional. The E.A.S.E. Framework gave me a thoughtful, easy-to-apply approach that deepened my understanding of Yin while strengthening my confidence and skills as a teacher.
Ellen’s kind, gentle presence made the training feel welcoming, supportive, and inspiring. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to grow as a Yin Yoga teacher.”
— Amanda Delman
“Having taken various Yin classes with Ellen online, I already had some knowledge about Yin Yoga, however this training really developed and deepened that knowledge. From explanations about the meridians, detailed descriptions and demonstrations of Yin asanas and modifications, to how to sequence a Yin class, this training was both enjoyable and informative.
Ellen’s natural warmth and passion came through in her teachings, discussions, and feedback, and it truly felt like a friendly and safe learning environment. I finished the training feeling more confident to both practice and teach Yin Yoga, but also wishing that I could do it all again because I was sad it was over!”
— Sophie Cooper
WHY I CHOSE ELLENÂ
Ellen brings together expert knowledge, thoughtful teaching, and a genuine passion for Yin. I took my Yin Training with Ellen 8 years ago. I not only got inspired by her expertise in Yin, but I discovered an entire new way to approach my practice and that had a ripple effect into the way I teach. Ellen has a way of making the nuances of the practice easy to understand while creating a supportive space for students to explore and grow.
